Episode: 00147 Released on February 20, 2023
Description: The law enforcement (analysis) field is ever-changing with new technology advancement, best practices, and theories on criminal behavior, so it is pertinent that agencies prioritize training for their analysts, and for analysts to advocate for themselves when it comes to training. In this episode, Anthony D’Abruzzo (side note: how would you pronounce his last name?) share how he discovered the profession as well as what he does as a training coordinator for the State of New York. Anthony’s badge story involves his development of different methods to collect and disseminate gun statistics for his agency and his professional relationship development with other professionals in the field; most notably, Deb Piehl, a prior guest on our show. Anthony and Jason go into multiple topics, including pay disparity amongst analysts across the country such as a Florida position that got a lot of traction on LinkedIn about a month ago. Anthony is currently the Crime Analysis Program Training Coordinator for the New York State (NYS) Division of Criminal Justice Services.
