Dr Susanne Knabe-nicol has a BSc in Psychology from the University of East London, an MSC in Interactive Multimedia from the University of Westminster and an MSc and PhD in Investigative Psychology from the University of Liverpool.
Susanne has worked in UK policing for over a decade in the roles of regional intelligence analyst major crome researcher, custody investigator, improvement and evaluations officer, improvement and evaluations coordinator, and change and improvement officer. Before then, Susanne was a uniformed police community support officer in London and now currently works as a lecturer in Criminology, Policing and Investigations at Middlesex University in London.
The reason why Susanne wanted to make relevant research reach the right people in policing is because there is an awful lot of great research being done and published, but then only read by other academics. This just doesn’t make sense to me, and so I started turning research into videos, as every officer can make time to watch a short video, but they might not be able to access and digest a research paper. Susanne set up Police Science Dr to create a broad range of research-based videos and the plan is for a global communication platform for researchers and practitioners as well as a collection of police-relevant courses, all in one place. Susanne happens to have the desire to make research accessible and able to create online courses and interactive videos to help the policing community.
Susanne has also published two book chapters: one on geographic profiling and one on behavioural investigative advice, which are both in Professor Laurence Alison’s book ‘Professionalising Offender Profiling’.
