Monday Mar 22, 2021
Monday Mar 22, 2021
Episode: 00047
Release Date: March 22, 2021
Description: If you are an intelligence analyst, assigned to financial crimes or white collar crimes, or have an interest in crime and intelligence analysis (of course you do since you're here!), you have likely came across work by our guest this week, Marilyn Peterson. Marilyn has written multiple pieces on topics relating to intelligence (e.g., intelligence-led policing, best practices), white collar crimes, and financial analysis. In this episode, Marilyn shares how she went from a journalism career to intelligence analysis, and how she navigated working with different agencies in the earlier days of analysis through the Middle Atlantic-Great Lakes Organized Crime Law Enforcement Network (MAGLOCLEN) -- a part of the Regional Information Sharing Systems (RISS). Marilyn gives us an overview of financial, white collar, and organized crimes she's worked on and information on how these crimes are handled on an international stage. For Marilyn's badge story, she chose to focus on her time and involvement with the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts (IALEIA), including her time as president and the evolution of their newsletter. Marilyn Peterson is currently retired but is a Senior Instructor for the Joint Military Intelligence Training Center at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) in Washington, DC.

Description: What possibilities exist when we embrace opportunity, tune into our subconscious processing, while also allowing time for our mind to declutter? In this episode, Nadia Tuominen, a 15-year law enforcement analyst veteran, walks us through going from the public sector to the private sector to later starting her own business and embracing the psychology of intelligence analysis. Nadia began her career with the Metropolitan Police (UK) and discusses her experience with the hiring process and her initial assignments in burglary and then robbery.
